Top 10 Madonna Albums
Madonna has a career that spans over 30 years and 12 dynamic studio albums. The undisputed Queen of Pop and, to some critics the Queen of Music, Madonna has stayed relevant through her ability to constantly reinvent herself and churn out delectable pop music each time she heads into the studio. Madonnas most recent work MNDA was considered a commercial failure by many, but it proved critically to be cutting-edge and full of pop goodness. So, if we had to list Madonnas ten best albums, what would we pick? Here is our go at it. Let us know what you think!
10. Bedtime Stories (1994)
This record is Madonnas best attempt at silky smooth contemporary. With the dynamic Human Nature trailblazing this album, we have to add it to our list.
9. Madonna (1983)
Borderline and Holiday. Need we say more?
8. MDNA (2012)
Many fans scoff at this record. However, it really is a groundbreaking electronic dance album. With accents of house, dubstep and booming pop choruses, Madonna still proves she has it.
7. Erotica (1992)
Madonnas most explicit and provocative work to date. Erotica shocked the world with its wildly brazen sexual content and even more graphic Sex coffee table book that accompanied the albums release.
6. Like A Virgin (1984)
The classic record. We do not need to say anymore. With Mateiral Girl and Like A Virgin on the same album, how can you go wrong?
5. Confessions o! n a Dance Floor (2005)
Perhaps Madonnas last true artistic statement, Confessions was her tribute to the disco age. With 12 tracks that play like one continuous DJ set, the album is a nonstop dance party with no ballads, no fillers and no hassle. Time honestly does not go by so slowly when listening to this record. It flies by from the fun.
4. Music (2000)
Considered by some critics to be even more technologically progressive than Ray Of Light, Music is more techno than dance. With deranged Auto-Tune in the place of Madges signature slinky vocals, the record is more of an experiment than an album. However, the experiment passes with flying colors.
3. Like A Prayer (1989)
Just like a prayer, this album will take you there.
2. True Blue (1986)
In our opinion, this is Madonnas best 80s album. While it does not have the haunting effect of Like A Prayer, Blue just beat out its successor for its undying dedication to the hook. From the poptastic Wheres the Party to the bellowing Open Your Heart and pulsating Papa Dont Preach, True Blue is true Madonna.
1. Ray of Light (1998)
Madonnas most progressive, honest and poignant work to date. Ray Of Light was the product of Madges newfound Kabbalah religion and the birth of her first child Loudres. She decided to take on a Mother Nature persona and deliver an interesting blend of electronic and intimate music. Each progressive sounding dance track works together to give listeners a truly unique and soul-bearing listen. Bravo,
Unfortunately, 2003s American Life and 2008s Hard Candy did not make our cut!
