Madonna to tour in SA?

Madonna could be making her way to South Africa to perform next year.

Social networks Facebook and Twitter were abuzz with uncomfirmed reports of dates for a supposed world tour kicking off in March next year.

According to fan site DrownedMadonna.com, which received what is claimed to be a copy of the Material Girl singer's 2012 tour itinerary, Madonna would "like" to perform in South Africa in October 2012.

The itinerary outlines an intensive tour schedule with promoters Live Nation, which would kick off in New Zealand on 31 March 2012. The itinerary - which looks as though it was snapped with a phone camera - claims that Madonna would tour in Australia, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Israel and Europe. The page stops with a show scheduled in Miami on 10 August.

The itinerary is reported to be the subject of a press conference scheduled for 31 October. DrownedMadonna.com reports that more dates would be announced at the beginning of 2012 - with the South African dates supposedly among them.

The website, however, took great pains to remind its visitors "that at this point we cannot confirm or deny the authenticity of the hypothetical Madonna's next tour itinerary we received by an unconfirmed and anonymous source". The claims were later repeated by gossip Perez Hilton on his website.

DrownedMadonna.com later posted that it had tried to contact some of the stadia listed on the itinerary. Only two one in Sydney and the other in Auckland decided to comment, with both denying that they had been booked by Live Nation on the dates listed on the itinerary.

Other stadia refused to comment on the reports.
