Hot Tix: Madonna, B.B. King Aziz Ansari and more
Now on sale
Madonna fans can stop holding their collective breath: After an initial round of dates that did not include Colorado, Madge's 2012 world tour has set its sights on the Pepsi Center for Oct. 18. It's only her second-ever show in our state, so don't be surprised by a fast sellout. And get on it early, since another show is unlikely, given her current tour schedule that sandwiches us between Phoenix and Dallas. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Monday. ($49-$359, TicketHorse)
Our music site, heyreverb.com, published news of the String Cheese Incident's July 5-7 concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheatre last week, but fans of the homegrown jam band will want to know that tickets went on sale earlier this week and that if they buy them through stringcheeseincident.com, they can avoid service fees. ($49.95, Ticketmaster)
B.B. King's remarkable tour schedule continues with an Aug. 30 date at Red Rocks with the like-minded Tedeschi Trucks Band, featuring noted guitarist-singer Susan Tedeschi and ax-man Derek Trucks. Why is it remarkable? Because King is 86 and in poor health and has been for years. Nothing like the power of the blues. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($39.75-$85, Ticketmaster)
Aziz Ansari added a second show to his Paramount Theatre visit on July 21 shortly after the first one was announced. The "Parks and Recreation" co-star and alt-comedy hero will perform at 7:30 and 10:30 that night as part of his "Buried Alive" tour. Tickets for the late show are now on sale. ($39, TicketHorse)
Jane's Addiction can't seem to get Colorado out of its system. After its New Year's Eve gigs in Aspen, the band is coming back to the Fillmore Audito! rium to play songs from its new album, "The Great Escape Artist." Tickets for the May 29 concert are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday ($44.50). Also at the Fillmore: the Sammy Hagar/Joe Satriani monstrosity Chickenfoot, on May 9. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today ($39.50). Visit livenation.com for both shows.
Jeff Mangum was bound to hit Colorado sooner or later, since the reclusive Neutral Milk Hotel leader recorded his band's only two full-lengths here during the heyday of the Elephant 6 indie collective. Tickets for his sure-to-sell-out April 26 Ogden Theatre show are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($33.50, axs.com)
Amon Tobin's eye-popping "Isam" tour will return for a much bigger show at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on Sept. 4. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($36.50-$43.50, Ticketmaster)
