Madonna goes 2-0 in Can-Am volleyball
The Madonna University put a slight strain on U.S.-Canadian relations by winning a pair of matches Saturday at the MU Activities Center in the Can-Am Classic.
The 17th-ranked Crusaders improved to 14-4 overall by beating Western Ontario (25-10, 25-17, 28-26) and the University of Windsor (25-14, 25-14, 25-16) for the third time this season.
Samantha Geile posted a team-high 13 kills, while setter Evia Prieidits recorded 34 assist-to-kills and team-best 11 digs.
Breanna Geile also added 10 digs in the win over Western Ontario (1-1).
Against Windsor (1-7), Stacey Catalano and Emilie Freeman (Lutheran High Westland) led the way with 10 and nine kills, respectively.
Amanda Obrycki contributed 10 digs, while Catalano and Prieditis finished with nine each. Prieditis also had 35 assists.
MU returns to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play 7 p.m. Wednesday at home against Marygrove College.
