A New Madonna Album, on a New Label
Madonnas next album will be released on Interscope Records in March, the first in a three-album deal with the label.
In 2007 Madonna left her longtime label, Warner Brothers, to sign a broad 10-year agreement with Live Nation Entertainment, which gave that company a stake in her concerts, recorded music, touring, films, sponsorship and other projects, and was reportedly worth $120 million. The company has signed comparable agreements with Jay-Z, U2 and Shakira.
According to an announcement on Thursday morning Madonnas albums will be licensed to Interscope, a division of the Universal Music Group; other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
No title was given for the album, Madonnas first in four years. But the announcement said that the record had been completed, and that the first single, Gimme All Your Luvin a version of which leaked on the Internet last month would be released at the end of January, before Madonnas halftime performance at the Super Bowl.
The Interscope deal was reported on Wednesday by The New York Post.
Madonna is also expected to tour widely in 2012, but no dates have been announced.
