Firefighters donate equipment to Madonna nursing program
Madonna University's College of Nursing and Health received a 50th anniversary gift from the Livonia Fire Department this week a patient stretcher and a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine for use in the school's nursing program.
Teresa Thompson, dean of Madonna's nursing program, expressed her sincere appreciation to Livonia Fire Chief Shadd Whitehead and his department for their very useful donation. Making it real is the goal of nursing education at Madonna, Thompson said. These generous gifts will join other real-world equipment we use in our labs. Our students will have the opportunity to experience the connections of home and hospital and learn the ways in which first responders and nursing link together in the community and in the hospital setting.
Madonna's nursing program boasts a 99 percent placement rate for nurse graduates. Madonna offers bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing and nursing specialties, as well as a doctor of nursing practice degree. In addition to RN refresher courses there are RN to BSN and RN to MSN programs at Madonna. Madonna University's nursing program has had continuous approval of the Michigan Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
