Madonna stalker escapes mental hospital, LAPD says
Police on Friday were searching for the man who allegedly stalked Madonna after he escaped from a Los Angeles-area mental hospital, officials said.
Robert Dewey Hoskins, 54, "is a very psychotic man when not taking his medication and has very violent tendencies," the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.
Hoskins allegedly left the Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk last week.
Hoskins served a 10-year prison sentence after he was convicted of stalking and threatening Madonna, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
During the trial, Madonna testified that she had nightmares about someone trying to harm her because of the stalking incident. As she testified, a prosecutor asked Madonna how she felt.
"Sick to my stomach," she responded. "I feel incredibly disturbed that the man who repeatedly threatened my life is sitting across the room from me. I feel we are making his fantasies come true."
Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Charles Dempsey at (213) 996 1300.
